Alexa exemplifies the word 'teamwork' but just her attitude and work ethic helps everyone around her want to do the same
Alexa is just a pleasure and refreshing breath of fresh air to deal with working in a place where patients and family are in a scary and vulnerable position. Alexa is a confident and calming nurse to deal with. On one of her shifts as my nurse, she made me so comfortable and reassured me that all would be all right. We talked and talked like we were old friends who haven't seen each other for a while taking my mind off my troubles all while doing her job in a most professional way, basically multi-tasking to keep me calm while doing her duties. To get her job done and go on to all her patients, after that surprising and much-appreciated assistance.
I watched and watched when I could to see how she handles her patients. One after the other all that I could see was family members and patients having a calming and sometimes smiling face with lots of thank yous! Where my room was most people had to pass me to go to other places or home. And hearing all the praise that the family was talking about among themselves just reaffirmed that my opinion of Alexa was on the mark. What made me sure that the DAISY Award should go to Alexa is the numerous times that she was in the process of making reports of filing out her charts thing would arise and other nurses would need her help with a patient, Alexa never hesitated once. She came to the rescue without the hint of an attitude which in my experience helps to make the whole shift work together. Alexa exemplifies the word 'teamwork' but just her attitude and work ethic helps everyone around her want to do the same. And you can see how much she is loved by her co-workers by the way they treat her. And one big point I would also bring across is that when she listens to your concerns and fears the amount of compassion she exudes in her eyes and voice I just wish I could articulate in my words just how wonderful of an asset Alexa is to have around in a stress-filled environment.
