This is more than a “Thank You”. My wife and I recognize Nurse Vicki Struble for her genuine empathetic compassion, comprehensive understanding, confident resolve, and swift resourcefulness in the immediate (and continued) care at Marshfield Medical Center – Weston. She exceeded expectations at first contact when I was wheeled onto the 4th floor by the transfer crew during her shift at 8 pm. She calmly took charge and cheerfully attended to tasks that could have been viewed as chaotic to an emergent stroke patient. Her welcoming personality and professionalism were immediately evident. She quickly assessed the situation, broadcasted her actions, explained conditions and expectations, directed and assigned chores while simultaneously gaining information from her new charge. Sensing the anxiety she learned that it had been a long, emotionally charged day starting mid-morning 10 hours prior, which included nearly 8 hours of disorientation followed by a 2-hour ground transfer, all without a break for nourishment. Nurse Vicki was resourceful and swiftly gathered snacks (peanut butter and jelly packets, crackers, cereal, milk, and even a ham sandwich and mustard) despite the kitchen being closed at that time. Throughout this process, she knew and understood why we were there and reassured us of her trust and confidence in the experienced staff, which in turn, alleviated our apprehensions and instilled our trust as well.

More than a professional caregiver, we learned Nurse Vicki is an advocate for Marshfield Medical Center – Weston, believes in her purpose and capabilities of the team of professional staff. She is an experienced nurse as well as a host and it appears she enjoys her calling. Thank you for having her on your staff! We are blessed to have intersected paths with such a passionate member of Marshfield Medical Center – Weston. We know our experience is but one of many, but this professional touched our hearts and greatly exceeded expectations. She is deserving of recognition.
