Kristy is multifaceted, highly skilled, personable, dedicated, and the ultimate team player.
I would like to recognize Kristy Rivas for the immeasurable dedication she has provided to our unit. Kristy’s impact has been apparent in so many ways and at a time when our unit needs it the most. Her strong clinical skills have guided our department’s growth and on a personal level, mine. When I started at West Kendall, Kristy trained me and all I can remember is WOW …… I want to be just like her when I finish my training. She is the ultimate role model!
Years later, she is not only our daytime Supervisor but the interim Manager of our unit with the support of our director. Kristy is multifaceted, highly skilled, personable, dedicated, and the ultimate team player. Our unit lost a great manager and supervisor all at once but with Kristy taking the lead I am confident we will be led in a positive direction.
With a steady increase in census, Kristy is the first to put on her scrubs and assist her team hands-on with whatever they need. I remember when she was sent to a job fair hiring event (AND WE NEED STAFF). I was the Charge RN that day and was running in circles trying to manage the floor but once Kristy knew we were struggling she arrived on our unit without hesitation, put scrubs on, shoe covers over her sandals, and said, what can I do to help? All I remember is feeling the weight lifted off my chest and feeling so grateful to have her by my side.
Kristy has an open-door policy and I am comfortable knowing that I can call her at whatever time without hesitation. She advocates for each one of her employees to let us know we are supported, cared for, and valued.
Kristy Rivas is the ultimate representation of a Transformational Leader and I without a doubt know she deserves to be recognized for her dedication to our unit, our home away from home.
Note: This is Kristy's 2nd DAISY Award!
