Ericka Osborn has been a wonderful addition to the Eye Surgery Center. Her excellent clinical skills are evident in her daily interactions. She chats and jokes with patients, so they hardly notice they have been assessed, she has started their IV and instilled their numbing eye drops. Going the extra mile when patients need assistance/information, whether it's facilitating getting their prescription eye drops or help with arranging a ride/driver for their surgery, facilitating flu shots or finding out locations/times, etc. Ericka takes the extra steps, takes that extra 5 mins that make all the difference in the world for the patient. She doesn’t just do this occasionally, she does this every day, for every patient. She really sees the bigger picture and their stop at Eye Surgery as just part of their medical journey.

Ericka is lead on the Eye Surgery Center’s Creating Lasting Change Committee, she works tirelessly on projects for quality, safety, and communications. Some of these projects include improvements on patient communication, on their preop email, improved covid preop testing procedures, communication with patients, and health-connect audits. Even when we are not doing a project, when she sees a problem or a need in the unit, she addresses it, like improving the workflow for patient phone calls.
