Nikki will help with baths, purchase clothes for patients in need, advocate for patients with any team member, and even be a shoulder to cry on!
Nikki and I have worked together for over 6 years and she has been such a blessing to the PICU. She is one of the most dedicated nurses to her patients, families, and co-workers. The amount of passion that she has for her profession is difficult to describe. She has recently become one of our ANMs and she is a perfect fit. Nikki is “on” from the second she walks in the door. She will help with baths, purchase clothes for patients in need, advocate for patients with any team member, and even be a shoulder to cry on!

Every loss of life in the PICU is a tragedy, but we had a loss recently that really pulled at many of our heartstrings. I got the news that this patient had passed and it was someone who had only been with us for a week. God rest his soul. The second I got this news, I immediately felt the need to call Nikki. She answered the phone right away. She was empathetic, supportive, and there for me. I later found out that she had answered other calls from other staff members, and she was there for them too! We are all God’s pawns, and we are all placed in each moment in time for a reason. Sounds cliché… I know, but Nikki is where she is meant to be. Not only has she touched our patients' and families’ lives, but the level of support that she has for our staff members is admirable. I am very grateful to have a co-worker like Nikki and I truly believe she is a DAISY Nurse.

Nikki goes above and beyond for her patients as well as coworkers. If we are having a rough day and the unit is busting at the seams she always keeps a positive attitude and encourages her coworkers to do the same. She recently got a kudos from the Peds ED about helping them relieve a nurse with a patient that needed critical care. She is an excellent Nurse and we are proud to have her as our ANM in PICU.

I just wanted to take a quick second to recognize Nikki Clay. I am sure this will come as no surprise, but she is a shining star! Peds ER had a 13 mos. old cardiac arrest coming in today around noon. They were a busy unit, busting at the seams, and had a call out so were kind of sinking. When the ED ANM called to let me know the cardiac arrest was coming in, she asked if I had any help to bring. I called up to the PICU and even with staffing being snug for them, Nikki immediately agreed to come down and help if needed. Her willingness to jump in was such an amazing help. When she did take over for one of the ER nurses (which allowed that nurse to be free to triage, treat and discharge ED patients), Nikki did not miss a beat. She worked cool, calm, and collected and appeared fully in her element. Nikki stayed with the patient as the team worked to stabilize her and move her upstairs. She worked with me to identify a patient to move out and we identified a bed for the cardiac arrest to go to. I know she made a direct impact in the resuscitation efforts for this child and I am extremely grateful for her. I can't express enough my thanks and appreciation. A big kudos, high five, and pat on the back for her stellar work today! Nikki, you are an Extraordinary Nurse and an inspiration to us all! Congratulations, you make us proud!
