Leslie came to SICU to be a part of our team nursing. I had three patients, two of whom were extremely busy and required a lot of my attention. My third patient was very stable however they were very lonely. Leslie could tell I was swamped with my other two patients and without being asked, picked up the slack with this patient. Not only did she provide great nursing care, but she also spent time listening and talking with this patient who had been alone in the hospital for 20 days. By the end of my shift, his spirits had improved drastically! Leslie was also constantly available for me. Even when one patient was crashing she jumped in and asked how she could help. She was truly such a joy to work with and got me through what would have been a terrible day. Her willingness to help and support the ICU staff was so appreciated. Leslie established a special professional connection and created a significant memorable experience for not only my patient but also for me. She exhibited consistent collaboration, compassion, trustworthiness, and professionalism with members of the SICU healthcare team.
