Pauline was the nurse for my mom in the Emergency Room. It was the first time I have had to experience an acute illness with one of my parents and I was really beside myself. When my mom went to her CT scan Pauline took the time to explain to me nurse to nurse what was happening and what care had been provided so far. More than that she read my stress and anxiety and offered me tissues so I could unload my emotions while my mom was out of the room. It gave me the chance to decompress and get myself together before she arrived back when I would want to be strong for her.

Pauline read my mom's emotions too and kept a calm and relaxed atmosphere in the room, allowed her extra time to complete the necessary questions, and calmly administered medication to help with her anxiety. It was a busy unit and Pauline took the time to provide excellent care to my mom to be informative and reassuring and to provide the type of professional nursing care that any nurse would want to see given to their family member. I have said it before and I will say it again, I am continually amazed by the professionals I am lucky enough to work alongside here at NVRH. Thank you, Pauline! You truly made a difference for me that night and more importantly, you made a difference for my mom.
