Michelle is the type of person who knows just what to say to calm you down and exemplifies the art of caring exceptionally well.
I worked with Michelle for about 4 years on the Acuity Adaptable unit. Michelle was always a tremendous help and always had a cheerful attitude while at work - even when the day couldn't seem to get any worse. Michelle's patients were always appreciative of her excellent care. She always took the time to actually get to know her patients and tried to make their stay in the hospital just a little better. She was also an excellent educator and ensured that the patients understood their diagnosis and treatment plans. Our entire unit was devastated when Michelle announced that she was leaving AA as she accepted a new role as the APS coordinator.
I always knew that Michelle went above and beyond for her patients, but when my wife and I were on the receiving end of her care, I realized just how much of a difference it makes when someone goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care. My wife had a planned outpatient procedure about 10 weeks after delivering our daughter. The delivery was quite traumatic, and my wife was nervous to be needing another surgery. On the day of her surgery, we found out that due to COVID, I was not allowed in the pre-op or post-op areas. My wife was already quite nervous about this procedure and not being able to have me there made my wife much more anxious.
Unfortunately, when the anesthesia wore off, my wife had a panic attack. Michelle did an excellent job of calming my wife down, and even called me and put me on speakerphone so that I could help ease my wife's anxiety. Michelle is the type of person who knows just what to say to calm you down and exemplifies the art of caring exceptionally well. Michelle's actions helped calm my emotions as well since I was not able to be with my wife while she was having such a rough time. Michelle also ensured that my wife received appropriate pain management during this time as this was contributing to her anxiety.
Michelle continued dedication to providing compassionate care deserves to be recognized. I have also firsthand witnessed Michelle's clinical expertise and knew that my wife would be safe while Michelle was with her. Thank you Michelle for everything that you do - Eskenazi is lucky to have you on their team!
