Sherry was in total control, which gave me great comfort and eased my fears.
I had the privilege of being a patient in your ED recently, and I do mean privilege. Why was it a privilege you may ask? Going to the hospital and privilege usually do not go hand in hand. Sherry Johnson is why! I am from Las Vegas and was in Green River selling my KOA, when I had a couple of "passing out" spells. I was very fearful to come into the hospital. I had been in another ED several years ago, and it was terrible. I felt like I was just a number and shoved through the system like a herd of cattle, not a good feeling. Needless to say, I came to St. Mary's ED very scared, scared of what was happening to me, and fearful the last experience may repeat itself in your hospital. Boy was I wrong. The minute I entered triage, the care was fantastic. They were efficient, professional, and most importantly caring. They immediately told me that I was in a-fib, which scared me. What is the world is a-fib? I was immediately reassured that they were going to help me. I was placed into the waiting room, and then Sherry called me back to the room. There are not enough words to describe Sherry in a positive way. As stated, I was scared, she was constantly reassuring me. In what seemed like an out-of-control situation for me, Sherry was in total control, which gave me great comfort and eased my fears. She was very professional and knew at every turn what was going on and the plan of treatment. When talking to me, she gave me direct eye contact and many times held my hand. She kept me and my significant other informed at all times. She included my significant other in the treatment plan, after she ok'd it with me to talk about my issues in front of him. Very impressive! She protected my privacy. I also had another visitor join us and Sherry did the same thing ensuring that it was ok to talk in front of her. Top-notch! Sherry made sure I was comfortable and took time to ensure my visitors were comfortable as well. Sherry got to know me on a personal level, which makes a person feel good. I thought, this lady really cares. I felt like; "Sherry is treating me like family, and man that makes me feel good!" It is the little things that go a long way. I left your hospital that day, thinking WOW why was I so scared? With your team, especially Sherry, there is nothing to be afraid of. Personal touches and healing hands are what I received that day, and I will not soon forget. God Bless you, Sherry! She will always be a DAISY Nurse in my humble opinion.
