My mom looked at Caroline with such loving eyes, I could tell it really moved her.
My mom was admitted into the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit. Caroline was my mom's nurse; and from the time I arrived in the ICU to see my family, she immediately updated us on everything and informed us on what was happening, how things were progressing, and what was to come. My mom looked at Caroline with such loving eyes, I could tell it really moved her. She actually got 2 other nurses and told her to come to look and how she was just falling in love with my mom.

My mom was pretty medicated for comfort measures but managed to ask me what her name was and she showed her the name badge she had on and my mom muttered, "I'll remember that." Caroline said that was good she wanted her to remember her! She wrote her info on her board and said the goal was "to keep mom comfy and happy." Whether we rang the bell for pain medication or just a question, she was on the ball and didn't pause one time. I am so glad that my mom got to spend her last moments with such a kind, loving, caring, empathetic person, and the many thanks that our family wishes to express for the care she provided my mom will never be able to be put into words and I think she should be recognized.
