Because of Erica, I feel more capable of managing my son’s asthma.
When our son was in the hospital my husband stayed with him during nights and I stayed with him during the day, so we apparently took ‘shifts’ similar to that of the nurses. My shift coincided with Erica’s. When I arrived at my son’s hospital room in the morning, I was deeply troubled about his condition. Erica introduced herself and explained very clearly what was happening, what treatments were needed, and why. I had many questions and appreciated her patience and attentive care throughout my son’s stay. Little treasures like pinwheels and stickers kept my son happy and entertained. What really stood out to me about Erica was when my son was being discharged. It would have been easy for her to just hand me a bunch of papers as we were leaving. Instead, Erica carefully explained my son’s asthma action plan step by step, checking after each step to make sure I understood what to do. Because of Erica, I feel more capable of managing my son’s asthma. My son’s initially traumatic experience became an enjoyable one, thanks largely to Erica and the rest of your wonderful staff. My son had such a good time he didn’t want to leave – he wanted to live in the hospital. We would like to thank your staff for helping us and returning our son to health.
