Sam made me feel safe and was a sounding board when I needed to cry, which was often as a NICU parent.
I truly feel that one has a job, a career, or a calling, and for Sam, being a nurse is truly her calling. Our baby was born premature and he was unable to be in our room since he was in NICU. That is traumatizing for any parent and Sam went above and beyond to help me during my stay while I was healing. She is bright, kind, and genuinely invested in her patients. She made me feel safe and was a sounding board when I needed to cry, which was often as a NICU parent. Sam advocated for me and my care when I was in pain and knew that my body physically needed more care to heal. She always had an answer to any question, she never rushed. Her presence calmed me and my husband and gave me a sense of peace during a very emotional time. As someone who works in medicine, I truly feel like I hold other health care providers to a very high standard, and Sam's compassion, integrity, drive, and sincere love of her patients set her so far apart from any other nurse I have every had. She truly is a shining light in the dark and Winnie Palmer is a better hospital with her in it. She has no idea the depths that she reached to help me. Mostly, I hope she spends the rest of her career as a nurse because the impact she makes, makes the world a better place.
