Juli always has the patient's best interest at heart and never questions if we as case managers and social workers feel the patient is not getting the best outcome.
Juli is the director of Case Management, Social Workers, and is the Regional Director of Care Management. She wears many "hats" in her job as she also works with the Hospitalists from Grand River Medical Group. We see firsthand all the hard work she puts into her many roles, both for UnityPoint at a system-level and for Finley Hospital. She always has the patient's best interest at heart and never questions if we as case managers and social workers feel the patient is not getting the best outcome. She will immediately help problem-solve whatever the case may be.
Juli is probably the most professional director that I have had the privilege of working under in my almost 20 years here at Finley. She encourages each of us to always advance in our own professional practice and provides resources to do so. As a director, Juli's door is always open, she is available to each of her staff members as a cheerleader, problem solver, a shoulder to cry on, or to give a good laugh. Always positive and encourages us to find a solution before jumping in to help.
On a personal level, we all feel comfortable coming to her with any personal or professional problems we may be having and we never have to worry that our "business" will be known by anyone else. We don't have to worry about feeling "judged" in any way by Juli. She is always trustworthy and honest with us. Juli is a family-oriented person and genuinely cares about each of us. An example of this would be when she and her family helped a coworker out by shoveling snow when they could not. When we need time off to do things with or for our family, sometimes on short notice, she is very flexible and understanding of these instances.
Juli has been our rock and a constant source of positivity throughout this crazy pandemic and even before that. She is fair and consistently willing to go above and beyond for us and our patients. She encourages us to have autonomy in all that we do. Juli Harris is a DAISY Nurse Leader because she exemplifies our FOCUS values in all that she does. We are incredibly thankful for her expertise, leadership, and friendship.
