My twins were micro-preemies born at only 26 weeks; Amanda was one of their primaries from day one. While the (amazing) VHC NICU was not a new experience for us, having babies with so many chronic issues and daily struggles was. Throughout our entire experience, Amanda demonstrated empathy, compassion, and know-how that set us at ease during this difficult journey. Amanda always goes above and beyond to take care of the babies and us as their family whether it was sneaking in extra snuggles with the babies or walking us through upcoming procedures or paperwork. On my birthday she "assisted" the babies with making a card. She was a huge motivator always noting their accomplishments on the board and advocating for the kids to progress to the next level whether it be in feeding or respiratory. I can't tell you how happy and reassuring it was knowing she was looking after the kids and hearing her voice on the other end of the phone when I could not be there with them. I don't know how we would have survived this experience without her.
