Sarah exemplifies what a nurse should be. She is an amazing team player, a great coworker, an excellent employee, and most of all one of the kindest, caring, compassionate nurses I have known. She is frequently mentioned during leadership rounding for going above and beyond what patients expect. She has been mentioned on Facebook by patients and has received compliments from the CEO through letters he has received from patients. One letter received was from one of the sisters of a local church. One of the parishioners had been hospitalized with Covid, she was very sick, and at times was ready to give up. After she was discharged, she told the sister that one nurse was so special, she spent time with her encouraging her; telling her to keep fighting. She even went in to visit her on the days she was not assigned to her to give her kind words of encouragement. She told the sister she made it through because of Sarah’s encouragement and compassion. The sister wrote because the patient wanted to make sure Sarah was thanked for getting her through all those difficult days. This is just one example of many where Sarah has touched the life of a patient. She is truly an asset to this hospital and a role model to nursing.
