Amber took the time to help and listen to the patient's requests instead of rushing.
Amber is always going above and beyond to help the staff while she is a charge nurse. The other day when a nurse had a difficult IV stick, she asked Amber to go look. Without hesitation she did. Not only did she do it but she enlisted Child life and another person to help make the patient comfortable. As she prepared for the IV, she noticed the teenager was very nervous. Amber talked to her and spent time before the procedure to calm her down and help do what the patient needed to get the best outcome. The parents and the patient were so happy and relieved about the situation and how Amber took the time to help and listen to the patient's requests instead of rushing. This is one of many times Amber has put her own duties aside to help the Emergency Department out and the staff when needed.

My Nephew was seen at the Springboro emergency room recently for a pretty significant broken arm. He was scared and in a lot of pain. Everyone who cared for him was truly wonderful and caring, making the best of a bad situation for our family. One person really stood out for her caring demeanor and calming presence. Amber came into the room and introduced herself to us as a team lead and asked if there was anything she could do for us (the family) while the nurses were starting an IV and getting pain medication. She sat down with my sister and reassured her that my nephew would be ok. She spent quite a while with us explaining what we could expect, what the transfer to the downtown hospital would be, and what we might expect when there. It may seem like a small thing, but it meant the world to my sister who was feeling guilty about the injury, for not seeing exactly how he fell, just a basic stressed-out momma. I know the emergency room was busy that day, we could hear alarms and phones and other children crying, but no one seemed rushed, they took time to listen and really took good care of all of us that day. Having someone take the time to calm frazzled nerves and provide reassurance really helped make a terrible, scary day much better. We are thankful to the entire staff but want to recognize Amber for going above and beyond expectations for our family.
