Diamond has helped me know I can do hard things even with diabetes and I hope maybe I can help other kids someday.
I like how Diamond explains things to me. She doesn't make me feel bad if I don't understand it. She explains it and encourages me and tells me that I can do it and is very positive. She is an inspiration to me; I like that she is not ashamed of her diabetes at all. She wears her Dexcom and pump proudly and is not afraid of what others think. You can tell she truly cares for others by the way she treats me and it makes me want to do what she does when I grow up. She has helped me know I can do hard things even with diabetes and I hope maybe I can help other kids someday. She is so kind and fun to talk to when I come in for my visits, she’s so cool, and she has such a cool name DIAMOND!!

End of last year we were able to get an insulin pump for my daughter K and she was nervous but also excited. This is when we first met Diamond! Oh...what an amazing person she is! K got to know her and looks up to her because she has exactly what K has. She knows how to use a Dexcom and a pump and that helped my daughter so much! She felt that she was not alone in this journey and that someone knew exactly what she was feeling and could understand what it feels like when the pump doesn't work or does, etc. She is also proud of it and shows off her pump and Dexcom which K thought was so cool! She wants to be just like her and teach and inspire other kids like Diamond. She made my daughter feel so loved and understood! She spoke to her...not just me! We recently went back for our yearly checkup and K asked if we would see Diamond. Luckily, she did come in and oh what a difference she is for my kids. K listens to Diamond...anything she says to her she listens and understands and trusts her. She makes you feel like it is okay if you are scared and it is okay if you don't understand, but you will! I could talk about Diamond all day! I don't know what it is about her, but when I see her, she calms me down and helps me even as a parent of a child who has Type 1 that I can do this too! She is so kind and such an inspiration to my daughter as well as me! I am so thankful to have met her and to know her! Diamond is amazing!! We feel like her friend and not just another person she sees at work.
