I guess I have to start back when I relocated to Franklin from Northern Indiana. Before I moved to this area, I had open-heart surgery and several heart catheterizations. In Indiana, I had been in Cardiac Rehab several times. It was not long before I had a catheterization here and was assigned to Angel Rehab. After my insurance 36 visits were done, it was recommended that I find a way to continue a heart-healthy exercise program. In Indiana, when you finished your insurance allotment, they had a program that you could go into the Rehab Facility and continue with the same exercise program with the same equipment. I asked if that was something that was possible here in Franklin but I got nowhere. A couple of years later, Angel appointed a new manager for their Cardiac Rehab program, Amanda Pack. By this time, I had several more stents put in. I spoke with Amanda about an exercise program for patients after insurance and she told me that she was talking to the powers that be about just that. I told her that I had written letters to those powers that be and that I had no luck. Amanda was not to be denied. She continued her efforts to get a wellness program started. Well, to make a long story short, she finally got them to start a wellness program. I have no idea of all the lives she and her team have touched and extended due to the care they provide for patients with heart issues. Amanda and her team are the kinds of people who work to help those that they can. I don’t know who said it but it was said that if you enjoy what you do, then it isn’t work. Amanda and her staff are those kinds of people and although I am a patient of Amanda’s, I can honestly say she is my friend.
