When rounding I discovered that a patient who had an extended and intricate stay on L&D had delivered and transferred to MBU. This Patient was a complicated patient that Admin Sups had heard about several times due to her leaving AMA and having difficulties with her care due to the patient being non-compliant. Trisha told me she was on her way to visit this patient being non-compliant. Trisha told me she was on her way to visit this patient on MBU and makes daily visits to see her. Trisha reported to me that they bonded and she got to know her background and the troubles she has faced which has led her down the path she is on. Come to find out, Trisha has spent her own money to buy this patient pretty bows for her new baby as well as buy her lunch when she found out her meal trays weren't being delivered. I observed Trisha visiting with this patient and connecting with her on another level. It was inspiring to witness that this patient wasn't even on Trisha's unit anymore, but she truly care about this patient's wellbeing. Trisha looked beyond her being a difficult patient and built trust with her so she could truly feel safe under our care. Trisha is such as amazing leader and goes far beyond the duties of a unit director. We are fortunate to have her in our organization.
