I was in the ED with my daughter after she tried to take her own life. It was a parent’s worst fear. The staff treated my daughter and me with respect and kindness throughout our stay. When my daughter left by ambulance to go to the psychiatric hospital, I was alone in her room trying to gain composure, as that moment was surprisingly difficult. Lucy came into the room and gave me a hug and talked with me for over an hour. It was an incredible blessing in a scary time for me. She treated me like a friend, cried with me, mom to mom, and gave me hope and courage. My daughter is still in the hospital receiving treatment, but that time Lucy took with me gave me strength and I will not forget it.
