Jody Massie, RN is my coworker and frequently my charge nurse, and she consistently goes above and beyond for our patients and team. She is always willing to stay past her shift to help regardless of how long her shift has been or how difficult it was. On at least 2 different occasions, she has come in for emergencies with no hesitation when she was not scheduled to work or be on call. The most recent time, Jody completed her 3:00-11:00 pm shift including staying late to help out, then went home and when we had another emergency, she came right back less than an hour later. Jody stayed to support the team until both emergencies were over and transferred out of the OR. Of all the staff that came in that night, she was the only person who was not scheduled on call, and she was the still last one to leave. In the OR environment, patients usually cannot see the passion and care that the staff has for this role. No matter what is going on, Jody gives her best to each patient, and they will never know or even remember her face. Our unit wouldn't be the same without her.
