Eunice is an excellent nurse with stellar nursing skills but on top of that, she is a very warm and caring person.
My husband has been hospitalized at Lutheran General for the past 2.5 months due to severe aplastic anemia. He is awaiting a bone marrow transplant. There are no words to describe how difficult this time has been for our entire family. My husband has been taken care of by a wonderful team of nurses and physicians but there is one person who definitely stands out and deserves every award of excellence that one can think of- it’s Eunice.
From day one, she came across as a very compassionate and dedicated nurse who was not only passing medications and managing endless bags of IVs but also provided support to our very distressed family. Eunice is kind, respectful, and very involved. Always calm and confident in her skills and decisions available to answer any questions regardless of how redundant they were at times. This nurse has been helping us to understand what is happening with my husband every step of the way. Because of the severity of his illness, there were times of crises and medical alerts. There were multiple people coming in and out of my husband’s room, some of them never even introduced themselves or acknowledged us. Eunice has been the opposite. She is an excellent nurse with stellar nursing skills but on top of that, she is a very warm and caring person.
It is easy to lose that sense of empathy and connection when you deal with multiple sick patients and their families but she is an example that sometimes underneath the scrubs and behind the face masks, real angels are hidden and are doing everything they possibly can to make a horrifying experience just a bit more bearable. We are forever thankful for this nurse being that angel to our family.
