Lauren never hesitates to help or come back and help after she has left for the day. She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met and had the privilege to work with.
I wanted to take a few spare minutes to let you know how great the ER staff is (and not just because I work there). Yesterday they got hit pretty hard with a massive influx of patients with all kinds of different ailments, everything from COVID to psychiatric patients. Lauren was multiple things-triage nurse, director, and supervisor. We were short a few nurses but they pulled together and made it go. At one point, we had 25 patients just in the waiting room, many of them grumbling because of the wait times. Lauren (and then T on night shift) did everything they could for these patients despite being overwhelmed, frustrated, and most likely irritated at some point. There was a patient that screamed at Lauren calling her names. Rude, yes. Ignorant, absolutely. Sadly, these are the kind of patients we are seeing more and more of every day. They lack patience, they are not nice, they are not grateful and they could care less that the hospital is overrun with patients. Somehow, every day the ER nurses show up and give it their all. They have nerves of steel and hearts of gold. They smile, they are kind, they make each patient feel like a person and that they matter, and never lose their cool no matter how they are being treated. I know Press Ganey scores don't reflect much of this, but in my opinion, these nurses are all DAISY Nurses. They are faced with so many different situations every day and they handle it like rock stars. I admire every one of them. I know Lauren is fairly new to her position and she is killing it. She never hesitates to help or come back and help after she has left for the day. She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met and had the privilege to work with. She is a fantastic director. I just want you to know what I see from the lower end of the food chain.
