You had to be there with us to fully appreciate how difficult this day was. The normal discharge time is 11 AM, I believe it was almost 6 PM before I was actually discharged! The saga revolved around the discharge medications which were supposed to be provided by the Outpatient Pharmacy on Friday since they are not open on the weekends. But instead, they were processed through Express Scripts Mail Order which was useless on a weekend. I will spare you all the details of the ongoing saga but suffice it to say that these same discharge medications were then processed through CVS only to get canceled and finally through Walgreens where delay ensued because all the individual prescriptions were not canceled by Express Scripts Mail Order or CVS. It was a mess, a nightmare. It was all too confusing and too complex for me to realistically think there was an attainable solution.

Here is where Ms. Adama Kourouma saved the day! She tackled this difficult situation with poise and competence. She methodically analyzed each step or misstep that created the problematic situation and proceeded to unravel each Rx by each Rx provider. Her quiet calm, her attention to detail, her focus on the objectives, her professionalism, her diligence, her perseverance, her ability to drive towards positive results (when anyone else would have given up!) all combined to save the day! All the while she was critically aware of providing excellent patient care to me in this problematic situation.

I was successfully discharged around 6 PM with my appropriate discharge medications. I want to again thank Ms. Adama Kourouma for her exceptional performance that day. Seldom have I been so impressed with such individual effort. She is a credit to herself, to her profession, to the IRC, and to Virginia Hospital Center.
