Our dad was celebrating his 66th birthday when he fell down the stairs. That night, we did not think it was anything more than bumps and bruises but for peace of mind, we took him to the hospital the next morning. Everything happened so fast, our dad was communicating fine and suddenly, he wasn’t acting himself. The emergency room assigned us, Mariah, as our nurse, and she immediately recognized the signs that something was wrong. He started bleeding internally and because of her knowledge of trauma injuries, she quickly jumped into action. Mariah was professional, calm under pressure, and made me at ease knowing she had the situation under control. Mariah helped save my dad that day and because of her hopefully, my dad and I can celebrate other birthdays now.
