Allison and Rod were amazing with my mother-in-law’s final days. Their knowledge helped those of us by her side, educating us as to what was happening to our B as her body began to shut down. The night/morning that she passed Rod was so compassionate with the little group of family gathered around her bed. He knew exactly how fast it was all happening physically, but he treated us with such respect, patience, and grace as we questioned what to do next. As we wept, he was so tender and guided us through her last breaths. He could have been different, impatient, frustrated with us and our confusion and tears. But Rod was just what our family needed.

Allison was there the evening before B passed, the evening we told everyone to come and say their goodbyes, what could have been a very sad, weepy time. We believe B knew exactly how much time she had left and wanted her friends and family to be joyful for her journey home. We had many people coming in and out of her room, and Allison was amazing with her ability to strike that perfect balance between following rules and allowing everyone time and space to visit. It was an oddly festive gathering. At one point Allison brought in a cart filled with snacks and drinks for those gathered, which was such a comfort that evening. She was positive, so very helpful, and felt like family. What a gift in her field of nursing in ICU. We appreciated everything she did for our beloved B.
