Mr. Fry took it upon himself to provide the best care possible in a truly chaotic and fluid crisis, where the outcome is that he was instrumental in saving another person’s life.
Mr. Fry came upon a traffic accident in the City of Grover Beach, where two people were ejected from their motorcycle during a single-vehicle collision. The collision occurred on an inclined roadway, causing massive damage to the vehicle and its occupants, where the motorcyclist driver, who was the most grievously injured, had landed face first in the roadway. This collision occurred on a dark roadway with lighting provided only by emergency lights and handheld flashlights.

Upon arrival, Mr. Fry identified himself and his skill set to me and we both determined that the unconscious driver, in the prone position he was in, had injuries that occluded the airway which caused him to be in agonal distress. With Mr. Fry’s assistance, who maintained a modified C-spine, we rolled the motorist over and began to apply first aid. Mr. Fry helped in opening the motorist's airway via an oropharyngeal and while stabilizing the neck, Mr. Fry could not locate a pulse. Mr. Fry then took over in providing ventilations using a BVM while CPR was being conducted.

Records indicate that Mr. Fry assisted in medical aid for over a period of eight minutes prior to EMS services arrival. The motorist was eventually stabilized and then immediately transported to a San Luis Obispo regional hospital. Although in an induced coma for a few days, the motorist woke up and is making a lengthy recovery with no neurological and/or long-term musculoskeletal issues. I would like to give Mr. Treven James Fry recognition, because although Mr. Fry could have driven on by, as happens so many times in my line of work, Mr. Fry took it upon himself to provide the best care possible in a truly chaotic and fluid crisis, where the outcome is that he was instrumental in saving another person’s life.

Although there are some other things left out in this recognition, mainly due to keeping the motorist identity and other issues confidential, I would like to personally thank Mr. Fry for assisting me, a Peace Officer in the State of California in a truly life and death situation.
