I am no writer but here goes…First I would like to say from the time my husband entered the ED to his discharge his care was top-notch. I am very confident in saying we would not have had better care at any other hospital.

I brought my husband to the ED with mild chest pains. After a bunch of tests, we were told open heart surgery would be the best solution. Two days later surgery was performed. It went great. The following day, my husband's nurse was Sarah Lacy. The PA came in to begin to remove my husband’s chest tubes and immediately things went bad. She knew immediately as well something was wrong and was calling the doctor. Then my husband coded. I cannot begin to tell you the horrible fear I felt, nor can I tell you everything Sarah did. In mere seconds his room was full…everyone was doing something…everything was happening so fast. There was no doubt Sarah was in charge of the situation and then she said the best word I’ve ever heard…"We have a pulse". Sarah was magnificent. No doubt in my mind that she played a part in saving my husband’s life.

My husband had to be opened back up again. The doctor performed another amazing surgery. He is truly the most compassionate and talented doctor I have ever met. My husband had so so so so many fabulous nurses, but Sarah Lacy is a name I will never forget. She is my hero!! When my husband went to the step-down unit, she didn’t have to but she cared enough to come to visit him. God Bless the doctor, Sarah, and all of the many wonderful nurses in CTIC and and the step-down unit. They gave me my husband back. Thank you.
