Christine played a pivotal role in our stay at Borgess. We were processing the scope of my dad’s diagnosis, symptoms, and action plan when she extended herself above and beyond. Her bedside manner was great. What impressed me was how she handled my dad. She was gentle, kind, and most of all patient. He is a stubborn old man but Chris picked her battles and stood her ground. She advocated our concerns. She was attentive to his needs. That kind of care offers nurturing and healing that cannot come from medication. The day before we left, my dad was coming back from a fluid tap and had been on Lasix so was in distress to relieve himself. The transport contacted the nurse who did not come. Dad was overwhelmed with anxiety when I caught a glimpse of Chris and called out. Although she was not his nurse, she came to his rescue assisting him off the transport cart. SHE WAS NOT HIS NURSE! She just had compassion. I was SO grateful and appreciative. Thank you Chris for all you do - it makes a difference and I am sure you’re probably not told that enough. You made a difference in my family’s life during one of our darkest times. With gratitude and love.
