This is a unique nomination in that it has representation throughout the entire hospital. Denise is a very special person and gives freely of herself and her resources. She is always willing to help with what is needed and constantly goes above and beyond to show kindness to the entire hospital. Denise fits the description of someone who would give “the shirt off her back.” She is also very humble and does not look for acknowledgment for the things she does, however, she is such an amazing co-worker to have so she deserves to at least know the impact she has across the entire hospital. Below is the collection of examples from several units that displays just how wonderful she is. 

"I have had the honor of working with Denise since she started here. She is an amazing nurse. I have had many patients tell me how great she is. Denise is a great patient advocate. I have seen her smooth over difficult situations with her kindness and compassion. She is also an awesome leader. I know the shift will be better when Denise is in charge. Not to mention the countless times she has brought in cupcakes and purchased pizza for the floor, etc. Denise embodies service and excellence and that is why we love her!!!"

"Denise has worked here for 15 years for which in my position I have gotten to know her the past 10 years. She is one of the most giving, hardworking, caring, team players in this hospital. Today she played advocate for both patient and staff without hesitation. She contacted me for clearance to have a mother stay with her adult son who is autistic knowing his stay would be less frightening and traumatic. Also, the mother would be great guidance on our approach to his care. Shortly after our conversation I placed a patient on Family Birthplace with a heparin drip order. There were some brief questions from nursing on review of protocols for this. I called Denise up for help and her reply was so pleasant and upbeat! Of course, she was willing to answer any questions and had already touched base with the charge RN on Family Birthplace. I was one step behind her again. If you happen to be on 7th Medical at the time a family needs help with anything and Denise is charge you will find her in the mix of things. She is a giver. On more than one occasion on the weekends I have caught her buying pizza for different units or all the units. I asked her one time when she was buying pizza for ER what occasion. She just replied they are getting their butts handed to them in business and they won’t have time to grab anything from the cafeteria. The list goes on like the famous cupcakes she brings in and partnering up with another colleague and friend to bell ring for Salvation Army this year. I am sure there are many more people’s lives she has touched that her colleagues can tell you about. So, kudos to you my friend!"

"Denise has been an undisputed pillar of this hospital. Her clinical skills and knowledge are only rivaled by her compassion and enthusiasm. What makes Denise so special is her selfless spirit and her promotion of a cheerful work environment for all of her coworkers as well as the providers. She is an inspiration to us all."  

"Denise Becker is not only a LASF 7th Floor staple but an asset to patients all over the region. She truly lives the RICHTIES of Mayo Clinic. Denise truly cares about each of her patients and ensures that they get the best care possible. Denise is a charge nurse on 7th floor and is a great leader. She has a way to not only lead her unit but be an example of integrity, resilience, and positivity for the whole hospital.
