Stacy stayed the entire duration of this process until the daughter was officially in the care of the E.D. ensuring everything was safe and completed before she left.
Stacy is truly an excellent leader, who leads by example. She could not be more committed to her role, her patients, and her colleagues. As a leader, we all have enough on our plate already, but Stacy will truly assist wherever she can when needed.

A great example of this was during a difficult situation that held a lot of dynamics to the scenario. We had a family member visiting a patient who had a very inappropriate outburst on the unit (to say it nicely) while visiting her father which required her to be escorted off the unit. Later that day the daughter had an infusion scheduled in our outpatient clinic. The daughter being distraught over what had happened was calling the unit constantly to be able to come back to visit and making comments that if she is not able to come back, she is going to kill herself. It developed into a very serious situation and escalated very quickly. My immediate go-to person was to reach out to Stacy, and she was on the spot willing to help as soon as I called. The complicated part of this scenario is that this was occurring in an outpatient area, and because of the comments stated by the daughter, she needed to be admitted involuntarily to the ED. Typically this process involves the Oak Lawn Police Department to take the patient in. However, Stacy was not only able to assist me with the paperwork that needed to be filled out but inserted herself into the conversation with the daughter and spent at least an hour speaking with her and was able to convince her to be seen by the E.D. without the need of a police escort. She stayed the entire duration of this process until the daughter was officially in the care of the E.D. ensuring everything was safe and completed before she left.

Had Stacy not been there the situation would have been handled in a very different, more complicated way with police involvement. Any involvement or interaction I have with Stacy is always positive. It is team members like this that make the difference when experiencing difficult situations. Apart from her everyday commitment, this night alone truly makes her deserving of much needed recognition. Thank you Stacy for everything you do.
