Haley was absolutely a ray of sunshine and I am so grateful that she was taking care of my wife and me.
We came in rushed and a mess as our mother came in via life flight to UPMC. We were met by Haley. She kindly introduced herself and made us comfortable. She updated us and let us go back to give mom a hug before emergency surgery. She came back out to check on us. She gave us the name of her doctor and promised she was in good hands. The last 48 hours have been hell and she was the first smile we've seen in two days. Her voice was calming and reassuring. It's the little things that matter and she showed us this with her comfort.

My wife and I came to Magee for her surgery. She had a double mastectomy done. We arrived anxious and terrified, unsure of what was to come all of the nurses and staff we interacted with were great, but Haley is truly someone special. B's surgery time was 2:30 PM, but the OR was running behind. The nurses took B back for her nerve blocks and moments before she was to go to the OR, an emergency case came in that bumped her surgery back. It was an incredibly scary day that left me absolutely exhausted and emotionally fragile.

B’s surgery started at 6:30 PM and I met Haley around 10:30 that night. Once B was awoken in the PACU, Haley came to get me from the waiting room. She took the best care of us. Haley took the time to make sure that I was taken care of also. On our way back to the PACU, Haley told me about how great B did and how she said that B was ready to go home. She made some jokes to put me at ease. Haley brought a chair over for me without a second thought and gave us a few moments together.

When she returned, Haley did an amazing job describing everything thoroughly and answering all of my questions about B's procedure and recovery. I was extremely nervous about the drains that B had after surgery, but Haley showed me several times how to strip and empty them with a sincere smile and delightful sense of humor.

When it was time to leave, Haley made sure that I could get to where my car was. Seeing the look on my face at trying to understand directions of nearing midnight after the day that we had Haley jumped in and said, "Come along I'll show you how to get out from here." She walked me back to the waiting room and explained how to get my car from there. She walked me through the steps of getting parking validated and assured me that she would meet me out front with B. Haley even went the extra mile and grabbed another wheelchair for us to use to bring our bags home in we were prepared to stay overnight.

When I got the car, Haley asked a coworker to bring our things out front and Haley met us both there with B. I truly do not know how I would have managed to do all of that on my own, especially after the day that we had. Haley was absolutely a ray of sunshine and I am so grateful that she was taking care of my wife and me. I very much appreciate her patience and unparalleled compassion.

Nurse Haley was an incredible example of the miracles of Magee. She is an exceptional nurse and was so kind to work with. Nurse Haley, I hope that you are able to read this. I will always remember your comforting presence and be so grateful for all you did for us. You are so very appreciated Magee, Haley is a rock star!
