Fabiola was caring for a patient who recently became homeless. The patient was admitted to the hospital for an infection and was living in a motel. The patient stated after paying for the motel, they had no money left for food. Fabiola called Case Management and arranged for a cab to take the patient to the motel. After the patient left, Fabiola used Instacart and bought lots of non-perishable food and drinks, paying special attention to foods high in protein to assist wound healing. Fabiola called the motel and explained about the food delivery. The front desk staff confirmed they would accept the delivery and take it to the patient. Fabiola used her own money to pay for the food and still wished there was more she could do. Fabiola truly is an extraordinary nurse who doesn’t think twice about going above and beyond for her patients. It is a pleasure being able to work with such an awesome teammate and we are lucky to have her.
