I don’t think I would have been able to make it through the evening if not for Jessica.
When we got to the ER my wife, P, was in bad shape, heart, blood sugar. No veins and had become a pin cushion. Everyone was trying and working so hard, lab trying to get the blood (multi-sites). All the while P is crying in pain and I’m losing it. The whole team was on it, working hard and being as considerate and caring as if nothing was wrong – ensuring her and me that it would be fine. P and I have been together 27 ½ years, married for one year. Her blood sugar at home before EMS was 26 and her heart rate was off the chart. She has AFIB and everyone was hard at work but still took time to pat our hands and backs and tell to tell us, “It will be okay”. P meanwhile is telling me, “I know I won’t make it home.” I had multiple episodes of having to leave the room and compose myself. At which time Jess the RN in charge, came to me, held my hand, regardless of COVID, and assured me, “She’s in good hands”. I don’t think I would have been able to make it through the evening if not for her. Every staff from the lab lady, the nurses trying to get IVs everywhere, to the aides who helped position and place on bedpans. All made us as comfortable and reassured as they possibly could.

The next day after, the Central line was put in, which took over an hour the night before. Your staff was able to get everything in line and we were sent home. She is doing well, and the love of my life is here, due to the care we got from all! This nurse who took care of us, Jess from ER, deserves recognition. Her compassion and dedication to her job are remarkable. We pray that all your health workers will stay Safe and Healthy! We know you all are putting your lives on the line daily!

Note: This is Jessica's 2nd DAISY Award!
