First and foremost, let me commend the HEROES that participated in my care while being hospitalized from tech to nurses to PA to physicians. I could not have been in better hands anywhere else. Three things I know for certain: 1) I have no clue what the criteria for The DAISY Award is, 2) I do not have adequate words to describe Sarah's importance, 3) I do not have nearly enough space on this page to explain her impact.

I was into my 10th day of my stay. I had wonderful nurses even so after tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, ongoing labs, two surgeries, pic lines, etc. I understandably was a bit over the whole experience. Then on Sunday morning 7:00 shift change in walked a ray of sunshine. Her name is Sarah she told me. I told her that was my grandmother's name and I was sure she was going to be great. Needless to say, she was beyond great. Sarah was and is a truly special young woman. In addition to being a great nurse, she showed a unique ability to not only use her clinical skills to care for me but also used her authentic human side to care for me as well. Kindness, compassion, wit, humor, and genuine concern were given to me every time she came to my room. I wasn't just a patient I was HER patient.
