Because of the caregiver limitation, Kaitlyn worked with the business staff to move other patients' schedules around in order to make things happen.
Kaitlyn is a registered nurse working at deHaro Clinic who transferred from inpatient one year ago. This particular nurse demonstrates extraordinary clinical skills along with compassionate care in the ambulatory care setting. This nurse exemplifies every aspect of CIRCLES. She is flexible with being pulled to do various things without complaining. For instance, doing drive thru COVID testing and triages back to back and doing it with a smile. She makes sure to be a good steward by keeping track of the COVID supplies, informing the manager of the clinic needs, and training staff on proper usage. Also, she has handled a very challenging patient on mychart where she was able to triage the patient, calm the patient down and get the patient to agree to a virtual visit.
Another example of her great compassion and collaboration was when she handled a complex care patient. Kaitlyn collaborated with the social worker and the business staff to accommodate the complex care, bed-bound patient to come in for a face-to-face visit for urgent DME supply order renewal. At the time, she worked with the social worker to coordinate transportation issues where the patient’s sister can only take the patient on certain days. Because of the caregiver limitation, Kaitlyn worked with the business staff to move other patients' schedules around in order to make things happen. The patient and her family were very appreciative of Kaitlyn's efforts to get her seen by the provider.
The clinic recently went live with administering the COVID vaccine to the adult and pediatric populations. Kaitlyn's leadership skills were displayed when she took the initiative to create a COVID vaccine flyer for the staff to use as a resource. The clinical and business staff expressed appreciation of her efforts.
As her manager, I have also received many compliments from the nursing students we typically precept every semester. One particular Texas Woman's University nursing student emailed me about Kaitlyn and her experience orienting at our clinic. She acknowledged Kaitlyn for creating many opportunities for her to learn in the clinic setting. The student also mentioned due to Kaitlyn's knowledge and excellent teaching, the student now has an interest in working as a clinic nurse for her first nursing job. Kaitlyn is a true definition of a TEAM PLAYER. She tends to always help in any way possible with any of the staff including the business staff.
