Raechel is my nurse through the Mayo Clinic Medallion Program, and she has always been helpful, clear, patient, responsive, and, although she has 300 patients to care for, I always feel like I am the only one. She listens and is focused and balanced and gives me time and attention and I do not feel rushed ever. This summer while vacationing, I had a lingering headache, was seeing fractured light images, and had higher blood pressure. I went to the local ER -- it was Friday, late afternoon -- I felt scared and was left alone for hours since there was only one doctor on duty, and he and the nurses were attending to a critical patient preparing him for the ICU. My blood pressure rose to 225, I felt frightened, so I called Nurse Raechel. She helped calm me and virtually she held my hand throughout the seven-hour ordeal. Hearing her calm voice, her wisdom and knowledge, was like having her next to me. Experiencing a medical issue away from home has its challenges. It can be very upsetting. Nurse Raechel helped me feel connected to Mayo Clinic. Her responsiveness to me as a person late on a Friday afternoon definitely upholds and demonstrates the Mayo Brothers standard "the needs of the patient come first". Thank you, dear Raechel!
