Sarah has been a nurse with Atrium Health Pineville in the Medical ICU since 2019. Sarah works as a part-time night shift teammate. She always brings sunshine to the ICU and her positive attitude radiates on the team. Sarah leads the MICU team by serving as a charge and code nurse. She always takes the initiative to help the unit without being asked. She has been recognized by the house supervisors for always helping and doing the right thing for the patient.

Recently, our ICU has been flooded with COVID patients. The workload and acuity in our unit have skyrocketed. Most of our team is new so many of the nurses have not experienced a COVID surge. One night, the unit staffing was low, and the census was past capacity. Sarah volunteered to come in and help. When she was graciously thanked for coming in, she stated, “It’s not about the money, I felt terrible leaving my team and patients short-staffed.” Her dedication and commitment to the unit are impressive. Sarah is committed to caring for her patients, their families, her peers, and the organization. She is a shining light and an invaluable member of the team!
