Mr. Mendoza is David Grant Medical Center’s primary Neurosurgical OR Nurse. Over the past year, he has won preceptor of the month 8 times for our phase 2 student program, training students as surgical technicians. His care and compassion for teaching are just one example of his want to produce excellent future care providers for the best patient surgical experience and outcome. His expertise in neurology surgical service is nothing short of his dedication to the service by staying up to date with the best instrumentation and equipment. He helps coordinate and promote in-services for the entire surgical staff so that we can all be competent in our skills and promote patient safety. He is always willing to come in on the weekends for urgent/emergent cases and even volunteered to work on his birthday weekend for an emergency case. I believe Mr. Mendoza’s passion for mentorship and education to be a contributing factor for all of our neurosurgery patients with great outcomes. I am honored to have been precepted by him and to work alongside him every day. His dedication to his service along with the military community drives me to do better each and every day.
