I went back to the ER after emergent surgery with pain in my spine. They found 1/3rd of my vertebrae had disintegrated – two days later I had another emergency surgery. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed and discouraged. After the three-hour surgery, I had an NG tube – very horrible – and an excoriatingly painfully tight binder. It was traumatic. It was torturous pain. Jensyn was there to care for me. I didn’t think I was going to live through the situation and she calmed me down. She HEARD me and saw my suffering and told me to “trust the process”. She took all measures she could to minute by minute, hour by hour. Jensyn never let up on communicating with the doctor. I felt like I didn’t want to live in the condition that I couldn’t bear it another minute, but she kept distracting me by physically caring for my skin needs and letting me know all of this was for my healing.

I was scheduled to have my drain tube removed and the bandages removed/replaced that day. Jensyn managed to keep to that protocol, having a surgery team member come up to remove the drain and they removed and cleaned the main tumor site themselves. The way Jensyn did all these things helped to start moving me forward to cope and hope. She removed the NG tube after getting the surgeon’s okay and from that moment my mind cleared. I was able to breathe. She led me from thinking I was dying to then being normal. She poured every ounce of strength into working with me. I know Jensyn had other patients and she would come right back and along with the aid would advocate for me.

I feel I owe my life to God having her there with her tender, but firm skills just to bring me out of the valley to healing and hope. I’m going home today. My family witnessed this transformation in my progress too. We are all grateful beyond words. Jensyn is deserving of the highest recognition you can give her for her efforts on my behalf.
