Rachael is an incredible person and nurse. I want to tell you a story about a patient she had recently. I truly believe Rachael changed her life and possibly even saved it. This patient has been on our unit for a few weeks with multiple post-op complications. The patient was feeling hopeless and depressed. She confided in Rachael that she wanted to end her life. Rachael took quick action to make sure this patient was safe. Rachael took the time to listen to this patient and her concerns. She also contacted the chaplain, ordered pet therapy because the patient was missing her dog, and she even got special permission to bring the patient to the Healing Garden and coffee shop. Rachael brightened her day and made her feel loved and worthy! I admire Rachael every shift for her holistic care and compassion. She is empathetic, thoughtful, loving, and friendly. She gives incredible care! I spoke with the patient after the Healing Garden and she said, in tears, “It was the best day of my life.”
