Laura is a 1st-year nurse on our unit and you would never know it based on her skills. Laura impresses me more every day I work with her. Today, Laura has a CTS patient and had not had experience. She showed she is capable of caring for anyone and her nursing skills show. The patient complained of shortness of breath and she continually advocated for the patient and noticed respiratory changes right away due to her phonemical nursing stills. She was able to get the patient the emergent chest tube he needed. The patient had to be rounded on by the attending and Laura stood her ground that something was wrong and saved the patient from further decline. Laura is an asset to our department and we are grateful to have her and she is becoming such an amazing nurse and I am proud of her growth. She is a nurse I am so proud to work with at MercyOne.
