Steven is always pleasant and is there for you. He is so very helpful and explains everything in a good, simple way.
I have worked with Steven for over 8 years now and he has always demonstrated a commitment to quality care. Steven's patients are always well taken care of. Their needs are always addressed, their plan of care is always well-coordinated, and their call lights are always answered. If Steven has to choose between getting lunch for himself or providing one more thing for his patient, he will always choose to provide that one more thing for his patient. As his supervisor, I have never once needed to follow up on his charting or his interventions to make sure that they were done correctly. I always knew that they were.
Steven demonstrates a commitment to compassion in his interactions with the rest of the department. If a fellow nurse needs a lunch break, Steven is quick to volunteer to watch their patients for them. If an aide needs help boosting a patient up in bed, Steven will always lend a helping hand. He gets along well with his coworkers and is known on the unit as a great team player. I remember one very clear example of Steven going above and beyond his normal job duties when he volunteered to take a seventh patient. The unit was very busy and managing our surgical and emergency room throughput was challenging. Seeing the difficulty that the unit as a whole was facing, Steven volunteered to take on another patient beyond the out of ratio assignment (6 patients). He told me that his 6 patients were stable and all doing well and that he could safely care for a seventh patient. Even though I declined, I will always remember that he was willing to go above and beyond in such a meaningful way to help the unit.
Steven has demonstrated a sustained impact on our culture. He consistently exemplifies Saint Mary's culture of teamwork by providing help to his fellow nurses and always demonstrates a positive attitude, even in the face of a fast-paced, high-stress environment of a hospital. He also demonstrates Saint Mary's commitment to quality care on the unit, influencing our new hires to provide care that is consistent and compassionate. Steven is always pleasant and is there for you. He is so very helpful and explains everything in a good, simple way. Thanks to Steven for making my stay pleasant.
