My husband came into the Mt Vista ER suffering a massive heart attack. After nearly an hour of tireless CPR, they brought him back. He was stabilized, rushed to the cath lab, repaired the stent that had collapsed. He then went to ICU. I met Marisa on Saturday night as she was getting off her shift, she came into my husband’s room because her dad was going to be my husband's nurse that night. She wanted to know about the type of heart pump he was on because she was going to be his nurse on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, her dad stayed over to ensure Marisa knew everything she needed to know. Marisa’s passionate and caring attitude is shown through flying colors. She has that sparkling personality that put me and my husband at ease, well as much as he could be put at ease. We didn’t always get Marisa as his nurse, but if she was working, she always came to see how he was doing. I have begun requesting her. She is such an important asset to Mt Vista.

On days when he was agitated, she always knew how to calm him down. She would work with him trying to get him to sit up and get stronger. So much patience with him. It was just a calming effect she had on him. On bad days she would hardly leave the room. Always on top of every situation. Like keeping his bed and him cleaned up after accidents multiple times a day. Always stayed on top of every machine he was hooked up to. Simply a tireless effort put in each day. Never losing sight of why she became an ICU nurse. We are still in ICU, she is his nurse for the next two days, which is always so comforting to me. Marisa is so outstanding!
