Mrs. Theresa Franz schedules surgery for 7 Orthopedic Surgeons accommodating approximately 1,148 surgeries so far this year. She took the challenge with a new program and worked with an off-base team for the total joint program at SOIN. She works directly with SOIN schedulers for total joint patients with 3 surgeons, currently, only 2 are scheduling patients over there as of November. She completed a lengthy packet with the surgeons, coordinates pre-admission appts, pre-op appts, post-op, and joint class. Coordinates surgeons for 10+VA members and helps patients who live over 55 miles away stay at Fisher House, Coordinates surgeries for Ft Campbell members with surgery staff for appts, con-leave, and Fisher House stays. Theresa has gone above and beyond for her patients, she had taken personal time off to assist a patient in need. This member lives by himself and needed to have surgery and had no one else. She not only picked up the member for his surgery, but she also coordinated his care to stay in the hospital and drove him as well. Even assisting with driving him to the grocery store for food so that he can focus on his recovery.
