I wanted to take the time out to recognize Marre Dang. She reached out to me, personally, on the morning of Sunday, about our recent organ donor. Although this was not her patient, she knew that we were following her. There had been a change in code status and was quickly losing pressure. Because of her call, I was able to ask the attending service and donor family to add fluid until I had time to provide information regarding the fact that their daughter/mother was a registered donor and secure donation. Had I not received the call from Marre, the opportunity to save lives (3 of them to be exact) would have been lost. On behalf of STA, the recipients, their families, and friends, we wanted to thank Marre for her thoughtfulness to reach out to us. Although we all know this process takes a team, Marre scored a homerun (Astros reference) and made a difference that day to many. The current UTMB slogan ‘Heroes Work Here’ is spot on! Marre Dang was one of them that day.
