This group of nurses has had to pull together in uncertain times and work hard. They work all day, just to be on call at night, and all weekend. They are an extraordinary team, providing care to those who are facing death. These nurses provide the dignity, self-respect, and self-autonomy so deserved by so many in this community. This past year has put them right in the epicenter of the pandemic and never once did I hear one of them say “no” or “I can’t”. It was always “what else can I do”. When the staffing of our little group was cut down to almost half the nurses by illness or quarantine, they pulled together to support each other, working long, tiring hours. I am very proud to be their unit director and believe each and every one of them is truly a DAISY Nurse as they have proven time and again they will go above the normal call of duty.
