I was admitted for observation and placed in a room after midnight. Mr. Gapas immediately took charge to make me comfortable after I had been waiting for 7 hours for an available room. He found a lone remaining turkey sandwich for those patients who missed the dinner hour and repeatedly brought me coffee overnight, which helped reduce my coughing, and then helped me several times to the bathroom. I was coughing all night and despite an ER doctor saying he was entering an order for hydrocodone cough syrup, it never made it to my chart. For the next 3 1/2 hours, Henry called around to get another doctor to enter the order because he could hear how I was suffering and unable to sleep. His persistence paid off and a doctor signed the order. I got my first dose at 4 am, which helped enormously in calming my cough. He is one of your quiet stars in the unit; his professionalism is stellar and the empathy he shows his patients is unmatched!
