The entire team at the birth center is amazing. We felt supported and cared for by all the staff, even the housekeepers. However, we'd like to nominate Jessica because if it weren't for her we would have had a c-section for the birth of our second child. I was scheduled for a 6 am c-section. We had opted for this because of the risks of going past my due date at my maternal age and because we had an emergency c-section the first time. Two days before the scheduled date I began laboring at home. By the time we arrived for the c-section, I was exhausted and could hardly explain that I wanted to see if we could have the baby without surgery. Jessica greeted us at the door, she was so helpful, kind, and understanding. When my husband explained the situation she expertly helped us change course and requested an exam from the midwife. I was 5cm dilated with her help and guidance from the midwife we canceled the surgery and decided to go for a VBAC. If not for her attention enthusiasm and patience to understand all the steps for delivering normally we might not have been able to make this decision and have it executed. We are forever grateful for her wisdom and care. She went above and beyond through all stages of labor and also after our daughter was born and needed to spend a night with light therapy. Jessica looked out for her in the nursery. Thank goodness for the timing and the special care we received. She was present, kind, and totally attentive- everything one wants in a nurse.
