Patty worked for 4 days to make sure we could provide the appropriate services for this fragile patient.
I received an email that we had a little 10-month-old premature patient that needed a monthly injection of Synagis and was being referred to the Boise infusion Clinic. Due to the age of the patient, we do not take these little ones. I then started the process to get the injections in the Peds department. In investigating the chart, I noted that the patient lived in Oregon. So, my questioning attitude came into play: “why can this patient not get their injection somewhere closer to home?” This is where Patty (FMC, NICU, PEDS CRM) got pulled into the case. She worked for 4 days to make sure we could provide the appropriate services for this fragile patient and she was able to find a location much closer to home for the family. I know my little write up here does not do justice to the amount of work Patty put in for this patient and family (initially this was not even a patient in the Saint Alphonsus System). This family will be able to receive services in Fruitland (much closer to home) and they will not need to navigate the wintery roads to come to Boise for this much-needed injection. Through Patty’s dedication to helping out (when she did not need to), we may have won over a patient or family for life to Saint Alphonsus. The provider was also very impressed with all the work that went into helping this patient get the services they needed. There were many others that helped make this happen, but all the work Patty did stands out to me. Thank you, Patty, for your dedication and hard work.
